There for the longest, it seemed paper towels were a must have in our kitchen. It's been one of the last items I've been willing to give up during my transition to a waste-free kitchen. I must say, it was an easier transition than expected. We still have a few rolls left, but I plan to eliminate this purchase all-together once they are gone. In the meantime, we have drastically limited our use of this disposable, costly product.
For drying hands after washing, we have a towel hung off the stove handle.
For easy access, I purchased cloth napkins that I keep folded and stored in a basket below the paper towel holder. I liked the placement due to it being an in-your-face reminder not to be wasteful.

For general cleaning (spills, dishes, counter tops & dusting) I use Microfiber towels and keep them folded away in a kitchen drawer.
All of these items are machine washable and are a relatively inexpensive up front purchase compared to the money spent monthly, even weekly, on paper towels.
The average family uses two rolls of paper towels per week. At $14 for an 8-pack, you could be spending up to $182 a year for that convenience.
It may seem minuscule, but keep in mind the old cliché... pennies make dollars! And those extra dollars can help pay down debt, added to your savings, used for investments and help make your way to a life of financial freedom. Small habits that truly add up!
Below are my recommendations of products I purchased and use daily! Keep in mind how often you use paper towels throughout your day, what you use them for and ensure you have enough sustainable product to last until the next wash. Then fold, store and reuse! You can even coordinate colors with your decor as I did with my neutral gray theme!
